Continental Divide Trail 2023
As an aspiring thru hiker there was always a pull to do a trail that was a bit harder. After doing a few thousand miles on the PCT and CT I really wanted a solitary experience that tested my skills as a hiker. It’s hard to describe just how much I really wanted to do the CDT. After failing to do the whole PCT I really had something to prove to myself. I knew if I had the right funds in 2019 I would have finished that trail. So it was really in my mind to prove that I could do a 4-5 month long hike.
In 2022 I was working for a school that let me have summers off. I decided I barely had enough saved up to do the another triple crown trail. Two days after my last day at this school my lady dropped me off at Glacier National Park. I didn’t end up hiking through Glacier NP because of permit issues. After a few days a hiking things really did not click into place after not hiking through Glacier and having so little time between working every day and hiking everyday. So after quitting two of my triple crown thru hike attempts I really had a lot of emotions going into my 2023 CDT hike.
